A male Masai giraffe was born at the Zoo on January 11, 2010.

Exhibit Schedule

The baby giraffe and his mom are currently on exhibit daily, weather dependent.

Updates

May 19: The baby now has a name - Crosby - thanks to some creative students and everyone who participated in the Name the Baby Giraffe Contest sponsored by Floyd Memorial Women's services. Read the media release to see how Crosby got his name.

April 30: 

February 22: The baby is growing and continues to do well. We posted some new pictures today.

January 27: The baby giraffe continues to nurse on a regular basis and is beginning to bulk up in his chest. ZooKeepers who care for the calf describe him as spunky and full of energy.

January 12: Baby received his first neo-natal exam by the Zoo's veterinary staff.
