Bart, one of the sea lions at Glacier Run, will call heads or
tails for the Papa John’s Superbowl free pizza coin toss.
Through some of the training behavior that Bart exhibits daily
in public demonstrations he will register his vote in the free
pizza promotion. If the public calls the coin toss correctly all
Papa John’s rewards members will receive a free pizza and a
Pepsi max from Papa John’s on Super Bowl Sunday.
The Glacier Run staff give daily public training demonstrations
where Bart and the other sea lions exhibit behaviors such as
Flipper stands, speaking (or barking), waving “hello” with one
flipper and “goodbye” with the other and target jumping. These
interaction are a part of the Zoo’s behavioral management
programs that help to keep the animals enriched and stimulated,
but ultimately are designed to aid the Zoo’s staff in monitoring
the animals’ health. Sea lion training demonstrations can be
seen daily at 10:30 a.m., 2 & 3:45 p.m. at Glacier Run. Other
animal demonstrations include the bears at Glacier Run, the Amur
tigers at the Alice S. Etscorn Tiger Tundra and the gorillas at
Gorilla Forest. |
