Carol
Miller joins the
Louisville Zoo as Finance Director
Carol Miller was recently named the Louisville
Zoo’s new Finance Director.
Miller, who previously served as a Business Manager
for Louisville Metro Public Works and Assets, replaces Jackie Richardson who
left the Zoo to become Assistant Director of Louisville Metro Public Health
and Wellness.
In her new role, Miller will manage the Financial
Division of the Louisville Zoo, which includes the Business Office, Cash
Management and Gift Shop. She will also prepare and monitor a $12 million
operating budget and $3.3 million capital budget.
“The work here is very challenging,” Miller said.
“But I am very interested in the mission of the Zoo and excited about
working with different revenue sources. I have always loved math and solving
puzzles. I get such a feeling of accomplishment when I figure out a major
analytical challenge. A new job like this is like figuring out a puzzle. I
like trying to figure out all the pieces and seeing how they fit together.”
Miller isn’t the only person excited about her new
position.
“My two children are thrilled that their mom works
at the Zoo,” she smiled, “and I’m hoping that they grow up to be good
stewards for animal conservation and the environment.”
Miller has a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting
from Bellarmine University and a Masters of Arts degree in geography from
the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
